Guest blog with Martin Dabek Photography

We were really delighted to welcome Martin Dabek Photography in for a chat about his incredible work, the weddings he has captured at Brympton and what he loves most about photographing weddings here at the house!

I'm Martin Dabek, a documentary Somerset wedding photographer, who loves photographing weddings at Brympton House. I have had lots of opportunities to photograph fabulous weddings at Brympton and I have been on their recommended suppliers list for many years now. During this time I have witnessed how this unique and magical place has evolved to be the Top Somerset Wedding venue.

Brympton House describes itself as: "A Magical Country House Wedding Venue" and having shot many weddings here over the years, I couldn’t agree more with your description. I absolutely love it and I'm not alone, in fact, it's every wedding photographer's dream to photograph here!

Let me tell you why returning to shoot wedding photography at Brympton House is always a pleasure...  LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! What I treasure the most about photographing at Brympton House is the fact that every part of the day takes place in a different location. The option of using the whole house and estate adds to the variety of photographs for sure. This gives me a stunning and constantly changing backdrop when photographing my brides, grooms, and their guests.

Furthermore, there are plenty of magical and beautiful backdrops for epic shots...the lake reflecting the South Terrace is one of my favourites. Next, the west-facing main entrance of the house is ideal for golden hour pictures, and the well-kept 'Walled and Japanese gardens' are perfect for group photographs. The long, tree-lined driveway is another fantastic location for some portraits and to spend some time alone (away from the guests!) And lastly, The Party Barn (The Old Stables) with its fairy lights and fire pit looks especially stunning in the evening and is my go-to place for some romantic and creative night shots.

VARIOUS CEREMONY AND RECEPTION SPACES

Secondly, I really like that the couple have a choice of not only various ceremony locations, but also unique reception rooms too. Most wedding ceremonies take place in the ancient 750 year old Castle House, which resembles a church.

But for the couples who would like the full church experience, right behind the Castle House is a very romantic wedding ceremony location: St. Andrews Church. This Grade I listed church dates back to the 13th century and looks especially captivating and atmospheric after the in-house stylist adds some special touches.

During the warmer months, you can opt for an outdoor ceremony and exchange your vows under the Temple, or have a blessing ceremony right in front of the lake with a magnificent house in the background. Then there are not one or two, but three different reception spaces to choose from that can accommodate from 40 to 228 people! The most popular choice is the opulent and bright ballroom which boasts breath-taking lake views.

SPACIOUS AND LIGHT INTERIORS The inside of the house is authentic and full of character, it takes you right back to the Elizabethan times. The Great Hall encapsulates this perfectly with its massive fireplace, plenty of stags on the wall and long windows (an ideal space for group photographs when the weather doesn't play ball!)

Then there is the 'Great Stairs' which holds the title of being the oldest, longest continuous wooden staircase in the UK. This a great spot for photos, just before the bride and groom make their way to the ballroom for the wedding breakfast.

The 'Morning Room' and library bar is the space for the groom and his groomsmen to relax before the ceremony and capture some of the last stages of getting ready. Both of them are flooded with natural light. Not to mention the super comfy honeymoon suite where the bride and her bridesmaids get ready. Did you know that Brympton House even has a cake room? Enough said.

To sum up, if you are looking for a picture-perfect wedding venue then look no further, you and your photographer would be spoilt for choice at Brympton House.
